HOW TO PRONOUNCE

 PROLONG / EXTEND

To PROLONG or EXTEND the sound of Mad letters with 2 harakat

  • إِذَا جَاءَ [An Nasr 1]
  • سَيَصْلَىٰ [ Al Masad 3]
  • هَٰذَا الْبَيْتِ [ Quraysh 3]
  • الَّذِينَ [ Al Ma’un 6]
  • يَلْوُونَ [ Ali Imran 78]

DEFINITION

The linguistic definition is the original Mad, and in terms of terminology is something that is not tied to the cause of the reason whether Hamzah or Sukun.

 

RATE OF HARAKAT

The rate of harakat or length of Mad Asli is 2 harakat, not less or more.

THE SIGNS

The sign of Mad Asli is when there are Mad letters in which Alif, Wau, Ya’ ( ا و ي) in one sentence, And the letter Mad is preceded by letters other than Hamzah.

NAMED AS

Asli means original, because of the rate of 2 harakat is the minimum rate of elongation, while 1 harakat is not counted as elongation and same goes for more than 2 harakat

ADDITIONAL NOTES

The elongation referred to here is the prolonged of the letter alif when it is preceded by the line fathah (top line), the letter wau when it is preceded by the line dhommah (front line) and the letter ya ’when it is preceded by the line kasrah (bottom line).
